Kjersti Wiik is a versatile performer within both the folk and classical singing traditions. She performs and teaches the art of kveding (old traditional ballad singing). She has collected a vast amount of traditional folk songs, working in the western coastal areas of Nordhordland, Sund, Fjell, Øygarden, Bergen, Fana and Arna. For her work she received Hordaland district's cultural stipend in 1996, and a stipend from Ole Bull's Fund in 1997. She is also a judge at vocal folk music competitions. She offers concert programs ranging from the sacred to the secular, usually including a choir and instrumental ensemble with flute, violin, organ, or other instruments.
