Straume, Bjørgulv

bjorgulv

Bjørgulv Straume is among the best makers of the traditional Norwegian munnharpe, or jaw harp. He carefully hand crafts his instruments using traditional methods, and devotes much effort to achieving a pure and resonant tone. He also repairs munnharper. The photograph shows Bjørgulv performing his composition Luftslaget (“Air Attack”), composed in memory of the crew of seven who died in the crash of their Boeing B-17 bomber, shot down over Setesdal on September 8, 1941.
