All Norwegian artists and bands that appeared at Celtic Connections were given massive praise for their performances during the festival in Glasgow.

Valkyrien Allstars took part in a live broadcast from Celtic Connections in Glasgow on 29th January as a part of the Festival’s Late Night Sessions.

Some of Norway’s most exciting artists will perform at Foyles, Charing Cross 26 January as a lead up to the Celtic Connections festival.

Folkelarm brings international music industry delegates from over 20 different countries to Oslo in late September every year. In collaboration with Music Information Centre Norway (MIC) and Folkelarm, the Norwegian Traditional Music Agency used the opportunity to present 5 of the Norwegian artists that are to play at Showcase Scotland in 2010.

Six of Norway’s leading artists within the world/traditional field have been selected for a Showcase position at Showcase Scotland in January 2010. The artists are Gjermund Larsen Trio, Unni Boksasp Ensemble, Synnøve S. Bjørset, Majorstuen, Valkyrien Allstars and Skaidi.

Celtic Connections is the biggest folk music festival in the UK housing just about 120 000 festival devotees, 14 venues and more than 300 concerts, workshops, album launches, seminars, late night sessions and free events. The festival has established a high-status standing in the world of folk music, and obtains great evaluations each year. Its spirit is formed within the Celtic traditions and by homegrown Scottish talent, but the festival is also beyond doubt an international event, bringing artists and audience from every corner of the world to Glasgow in late January.
