Leikarringen Symra

With around 100 active dancers, Symra is the largest and most active leikarringen (folk dance troupe) in Oslo. The members of the group present a wide variety of Norwegian folk dances. Their performances usually include from 4 to 10 pairs of dancers performing a cross-section of Norwegian folk dances, and the group is accompanied by its own Hardanger fiddler. An average presentation lasts for 20 to 30 minutes. Symra can also tailor programmes for special events, and can organise shows at short notice. Symra also offers courses teaching a large selection of folk dances of different types.

The National Association for Traditional Music in Kindergarten

The goal of the LFIB is to give the experience of traditional music and dance to very young children and their caregivers. They work on developing singing, dancing and instrument playing abilities in both the children and those who work with them. Drama and playacting is also used. The LFIB attempts to create a personal relationship between the participants and the material, and to connect the material with the locale. The LFIB's method is to visit a kindergarten and «take over» the children with their teachers as active participants. They also give instruction to the teachers which is based on their daily routine in the kindergarten. They hold regular gatherings with children and teachers from all the participating kindergartens, and hold workshops with singing, instrument playing and dance. They also conduct an intensive two-day course for teachers. Performances: - Samfunnshuset's kindergarten - Nedre Eiker district Albatross kindergarten - Kongsberg district Kindergarten Office of the district of Kongsberg Cultural division of Buskerud province
