Marylands

Marylands plays good, old-time Bergen-style gammeldance (waltz, schottische, polka, mazurka, etc.) Under the leadership of the legendary Bergen fiddler Finn Vabø, Marylands has collected some of the best fiddlers in the land to play top-class dance music. With the group's special "groove" they play music that really swings! Their repertory includes everything from short simple tunes to long, almost virtuosic masterpieces, all performed in typical Bergen style. The group includes many well-known names: Finn Vabø, Øivind Vabø, Steinar Rygg, Monika Antun, Håkon Høgemo, Elna F. Selle, Synnøve Øvrebø, Hallgrim Skjerdal, Elisabeth Eikås, Synnøve Bjørset, Axel Heienberg, Olav Tveitane and Sigbjørn Apeland. With eleven Hardanger fiddles, pump organ and guitar, this band will give you an unforgettable musical and dancing experience. Recordings: Marylands (Heilo/Grappa 2001) Concerts: Førde International Folk Music Festival, 2001 Telemark Festival 2001
