M. B. Landstad; konsert- og kåseritilbod

gruppe

Agnes Buen Garnås – vocals, Per Anders Buen Garnås – fiddle, Sigbjørn Apeland – reed organ M. B. Landstad was a pioneer in the field of music. He was the source of Norway’s two most important books in the 1800s, Landstad’s Hymnal and Norwegian Folk Songs. Landstad accomplished a monumental task in editing, translating and writing hymns for the first Norwegian hymnal, and he made it his project to rescue the treasure trove of Norwegian national folk song by collecting and publishing Norwegian Folk Songs. The 200th anniversary of his birth serves as a good opportunity to focus on a person who had a major impact on Norwegian cultural history, and who managed to forge links between folk culture and religion. The interpreters of these gems are Telemark artist Agnes Buen Garnås (see her individual entry in this catalogue), fiddler Per Anders Buen Garnås (see his individual entry in this catalogue) and organist, improvisational musician and musicologist Sigbjørn Apeland. In addition to a concert, they also offer an entertaining lecture about M. B. Landstad, written by Landstad’s great-great-grandson, Jon M. Landstad. The content of the lecture can be adapted to the needs of the concert arranger.
