Performs in a group composed of varying membership according to the situation. Ove Larsen, the group's leader, is a professor of music at Nesna High School; his doctoral dissertation was on the subject of the fiddling tradition of Drevja in Nordland. His primary collaborator is the musician and composer Bodvar Moe. With the group Dr. Larsen Band, they create tongue-in-cheek, humorous concerts based on the folk music of Helgeland. He has also created performances based on the music and lyrics of the author A. Nilsskog, with amusing stories and anecdotes from everyday life in Helgeland. Ove Larsen gives lectures on North Norway folk music and on the bases for popular conceptions of aesthetics.
