Honndalstausene

Honndalstausene

Since 1983, Honndalstausene (“The Hornindal Girls”) have set their stamp on new music for Norwegian traditional waltz, reinlender, polka, and mazurka. The group got its start during informal jam sessions among friends. This casual collaboration developed into three recordings, honors and trophies at competitions and festivals, concerts, tours, and domestic and international radio and television programs. The group has played for dances all over Norway, including to a full house at the Oslo Spektrum theater. The Honndalstausene stand for originality and fresh appeal, grounded in tradition but not bound by it. They know their folk music, and know what it takes to make old gold shine again. The result is unmistakable originality, a sense of humor, and an elegant feminine touch. The group welcomes any and all types of performance opportunities. Recordings: Honndalstausene, 1988 (HO 7052) Strengeleik, 1992 (IDCD 23/IDK 23) Frie former, 2000 (HCD 7161)
