Landsfestivalen:
Folk Music Competition at Nordfjordeid
Weekend July 14th-18th Landsfestivalen is held at Nordfjordeid, on the North Western coast of Norway. Landsfestivalen is a national competition focusing on the Folk Music repertoire referred to as "turning dance music".
Landsfestivalen is an annual meeting place at various locations gathering people genuinly interested in good dancing music from lots of bands with fiddles, accordions, bass and guitar as the common instrumentation. It is also a contest, and in some of the classes the winner is chosen after all bands have performed for a dancing audience, giving the contests a really informal and playful atmosphere.
In addition to the contests, there are regular concerts, dancing classes, record releases, sales booths and last but not least great parties.
Landsfestivalen this year is held in Nordfjordeid, a small town in Sogn og Fjordane at the West coast of Norway, where the nature surroundings are astonishing and overwhelming.
