Bolstad, Trygve

TA10_Vifte

Teachers and sources of inspiration who have influenced him are his father Knut Bolstad, his uncles Ingvar and Magnus Daleng, Torleiv Bolstad, Ola Bøe and Andris Dahle. His repertoire of fiddle tunes is immense, and he also composes new tunes. He plays some of these on his record, Aleis. He has been engaged as director, head of archives, and secretary for the Folk Music Council in Valdres since 1980. In 1988 he was engaged as an official regional musician, one of the first in the country, when this system was established in Valdres. He is still an active teacher and fiddler in addition to operating his farm.  Trygve Bolstad received the Government Grant for Artists from 2004 to 2006.
