Boksasp og Jones Duo

Boksasp og Jones Foto Ola Berge

Unni Boksasp and Adrian Jones met in the fall of 1999 at the traditional music course at the Royal Music School in Stockholm.

Their meeting turned into a collaboration between a Norwegian singer with deep roots in the singing tradition of Nordmøre, and a traditional Swedish fiddler with a background in both traditional and classical music. Boksasp and Jones are completely at ease with their own traditions, and this secure footing allows them the freedom to experiment, place their music into new contexts, improvise, and discover their own unique style. Their repertory includes new arrangements of traditional lullabies from Nordmøre, dance tunes from Telemark with Swedish-style harmonized melodies, and arranged ballads. They also play their own composed melodies and song texts. Their solo and duo music has an ancient flavor, evidence of their fascination with the old scale used in Norwegian and Swedish traditional music. Boksasp and Jones Duo delivers the exciting combination of fiddle/viola and song in a fresh, innovative way.
